On Being Sharkbait

Over the years I've often thought about the concept of "being Sharkbait".  Especially since I have a company called Sharkbaitsurfwax. 

What does it mean to be called Sharkbait? 

Why would you call someone Sharkbait? 

What does someone have to do to be Sharkbait?

Is being Sharkbait good or bad?

A lot of people will say that the surfer or swimmer farthest from shore  is definitely Sharkbait

Others would say that just by playing in the shore-break  still makes you Sharkbait because so many shark attacks happen there. 

And then there are those who say that anyone who goes to sea is potentially Sharkbait because their  their boat could always sink and dump them back into the food chain

Beyond that, there is the school of thought that anyone who is a risk-taker, such as an adventurer or explorer could also fall under the category of Sharkbait. We think this is acceptable. 

So, in a nutshell being Sharkbait means different things to different people

For me, I say Sharkbait people are those who over come their fear and do something risky whether they go to sea or not. 

Regarding whether being Sharkbait is good or bad? For me the idea behind Sharkbaitsurfwax was always about celebrating courage.  And that's a good thing.
